Laser Hair Removal

Leg hair removal will help you to get rid of any unwanted hair on your legs. For many women, the idea of never shaving again would be akin to winning the lottery!

Laser hair treatment to remove unwanted leg hair looks and feels smoother than shaving and can save hours of precious time. For women who wax, laser hair removal can also be more cost-effective (and less-painful) over the long-term.

While it’s not guaranteed to completely eradicate leg hair, laser hair treatment can reduce the amount of hair you have and it can also lighten the color of the hair and make it less noticeable.

Most people receive lasting results in 4 to 6 treatments and with typically less pain or discomfort than waxing. Treatments are usually over in less than one hour. The length of your sessions will depend on your hair thickness and density, the surface area being treated, and other factors.

Annual maintenance treatments may be needed to ensure the hair doesn’t grow back. Consult with a physician prior to receiving treatment. He or she will evaluate your skin and hair type and answer your questions about the laser hair removal procedure and its potential benefits for you.

The Brazilian Bikini can be accomplished in many ways, but one of the most maintenance free, ways, is via laser hair removal. Shaving can be quite uncomfortable. Cream Depilatories can cause chemical burns and waxing the bikini after waiting for the necessary bikini outgrowth is ugly and embarrassing. Let’s not imagine how much it would hurt to get hours of electrolysis in some of those more delicate bikini parts. Hair removal by laser is remains one of the best options to do laser hair removal for the bikini area. Laser hair removal for the bikini area is quick, relatively permanent, reduces ingrown hairs, and maintenance free.

Underarm laser hair removal is a common procedure for patients seeking to remove unwanted underarm hair. Each pulse of laser light removes the unwanted hair in the underarm region. The laser targets those hairs which are in their growth phase, and as hairs go through cycles, multiple sessions may be needed to remove all hair permanently.

A Quick Procedure

Since this is usually a medium area to treat (armpits), removal of underarm hair is one of the fastest procedures in laser therapy, requiring only several minutes of treatment time. The procedure is generally without much pain.

Back hair removal can be a real lifestyle and health benefit. As anyone with back hair knows, it’s not pretty, and it can even increase body odor. Sometimes back hair can irritate the skin, making it itchy and, in some cases, causing infection. Laser removal for men and, in particular, back hair removal is a good option for several reasons:

First, laser hair removal, while not fool-proof, offers a more permanent method than others (such as shaving, waxing and creams) which have various limitations. The back, for example, is hard to reach, making shaving on your own difficult. Waxing, meanwhile, can irritate the skin (not to mention that it’s rather painful).
Many athletic men enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal to achieve better results in their respective sports. What’s more, athletes may not want to bury their attractive muscles underneath a thick coating of hair so back hair removal is a viable option.
Laser hair removal for back hair is not perfect, but there are advantages.

One laser session can cover the whole back and, in four to six treatments, patients will see significant results that will be further improved with continued treatments.

Even men with thicker, coarse hair can see results through laser hair removal. This is particularly important to people who find the hair on their back irritating.

Keep in mind that laser hair treatment works best for people with dark hair and light skin. For those who don’t fit those criteria, electrolysis may work. During electrolysis, a needle is inserted into one hair follicle at a time, destroying the follicle with an electrical current. It’s a time-consuming method, however, and it is not a permanent solution and it’s more painful than laser treatment.

Truthfully, millions of women are embarrassed because they are coping with unsightly facial hair rather than the clear smooth skin they desire. Some women take painstaking measures to constantly conceal facial hair, so that even their significant other or closest friend remains unaware. They tweeze, shave, bleach or wax on a regular basis, only to cause the hair to grow in stronger and darker than before. Additionally, there is a great deal of skin irritation, and often permanent damage being caused by these repetitive methods.

Women’s Facial Hair Removal: Everyday, women nationwide who are frustrated with constantly tweezing and shaving facial hair turn to Metropolitan Med Spa for solutions. The spa is dedicated exclusively to laser hair removal and skincare.

What about Men’s Facial Hair? Men, if you’re tired of taking the time to shave every morning so you look smooth and professional at work, let Metropolitan Med Spa help you achieve the groomed appearance you’ve always wanted. In addition to eliminating the need for further shaving, this will prevent irritation and the development of pseudo-folliculitis the name medical experts give to painful, inflamed razor bumps so commonly experienced by the male population.

The Solution Our specialized treatment is very discrete, so there’s no need to grow the hairs out for treatment. Moreover, the laser hair removal procedures at Metropolitan Med Spa not only remove hair above the skin, but below the skin as well. The hair is completely removed. As a result there are no longer any dark hairs beneath the skin’s surface, sometimes known as the five o’ clock shadow. You may return to work or play immediately. Metropolitan Med Spa can treat any area of the face, upper lip, chin, neck, sideburns and more.

Unwanted arm hair can be unattractive and unsightly, causing many people to be insecure about their appearance. Traditional remedies, such as shaving or waxing offer only a short-term solution to the problem. In many cases, by the time the irritation of waxing or shaving has passed, the problem hair has begun to return.

Laser hair removal now offers a lasting solution to unwanted arm hair. The pulses of light from the laser target the hair follicles, damaging the hairs at their roots. This causes the hair to fall out—and shocks the follicles into a new resting period, during which new hair doesn’t grow. Much of the hair never grows back. Those hairs that do return are typically much thinner in diameter—and, thus, less noticeable.

With new technologies rapidly emerging, tedious or painful epilation methods, such as waxing or electrolysis can now be left behind for a better solution.

The Science of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal or “photoepilation” is a proven form of hair removal based on many years of clinical experience, research into properties of laser light, follicle growth and phases, and millions of procedures in medical clinics, spas & office locations around the world. The science of the procedure is based on proven facts surrounding the “theory of selective photothermolysis”, which states that a laser beam applied to living tissue will have different effects on tissue components (in this case hair) depending on the absorption spectra. What this means in the case of laser hair removal is that hair (with its melanin pigment) can be successfully targeted with the proper wavelength of light energy. Over a decade of experience has shown laser hair removal is the proven solution for long-term, or in many cases, permanent hair reduction.

Can lasers treat people with darker skin color?

Yes. Metropolitan Med Spa has two distinct lasers: one for lighter skin, and one for darker skin. No matter how dark the skin, our Gentle YAG laser is considered the gold standard for treating unwanted hair on darker skin types. Its longer wavelength safely bypasses the skin and targets the melanin in the hair shaft, destroying the unwanted hair follicle or root. You will love your results!

Laser Hair Removal for Darker Skin

For laser hair removal it is extremely important, because hair removal lasers are designed to be absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair shaft, that we avoid treating the melanin pigment in the surface of the skin. The way to do that is by cooling the surface of the skin to protect it. That can be done with contact cooling, something cold that touches the skin such as two sapphire plates with water running between, or by using a chilled plate, or by a spray that is applied to the skin and cools the skin through evaporation. These are all ways we protect the surface of the skin. The lighter the surface of the skin is, the less chance the laser is going to hurt the skin.

Shorter Laser Wavelengths

If we’re treating patients with very dark skin what we often do is use lasers with the longest wavelength of light. We do this because melanin is designed to absorb short wavelengths of light such as UV Light, and the ability of melanin to absorb light decreases as you go to longer and longer wavelengths, thereby decreasing risk to darker skin. Melanin will still absorb the longer wavelength reasonably well, even at very long wavelengths.

Laser hair removal for men is suitable for all parts of the body. It works for the face, chest, and back. Laser treatment is practically painless too. Even without any topical numbing ointment, most people report feeling only a slight stinging sensation while undergoing the procedure. After the treatment some people may find their skin getting a little darker while others experience a slight swelling on the affected area. Even then, after a couple days the swelling will go away.

Laser hair removal for men is becoming more advanced, more widely accepted and less pricy. It’s easy, quick and permanent. About the only thing that holds more men back is that despite all the pros it still had a pretty hefty upfront cost. In the long run though when you consider the cost and time of shaving and waxing over all the years, all the time spent every couple weeks. The benefits of laser hair removal for men far outweigh the cost.
